Privacy Policy

The short version
MountainSwitch is a public, read-only site with no user accounts. We don't sell data and nothing on the site is for sale. We use basic analytics to understand which routes people check, and our API rate-limits by IP address. That's it.
Who we are
MountainSwitch is operated by Ezlogy Inc., a California corporation. Questions: support@mountainswitch.co.
What we collect
On the website
- Anonymous usage analytics through Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. This includes pages visited, approximate country or region, device type, and referring site. These services may set cookies.
- Standard server logs kept by Cloudflare as part of normal infrastructure operation, including IP address, user agent, and request timestamps.
On the API
- IP addresses for the purpose of rate limiting. These are stored temporarily in our cache and expire automatically.
- Standard Cloudflare edge logs as above.
What we don't collect
- Names, email addresses, or accounts. We don't offer any.
- Payment information. Nothing on the site is for sale.
- Precise location, contacts, or anything else from your device beyond what a browser sends with a normal request.
- We don't sell, share, or rent any of the data we do collect.
Third-party services
- Google Analytics: Google LLC processes anonymized usage data under Google's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc.: Cloudflare hosts the site and API, and provides edge analytics and infrastructure logging under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Upstream data sources like Caltrans: We fetch public road condition data from them. We do not send them anything about you.
Cookies
Google Analytics and Cloudflare may set cookies for analytics. You can disable cookies through your browser settings or use any standard content blocker. The site will still work.
Your choices
- You can block analytics with your browser settings or a content blocker.
- You can use the API from any IP address without providing personal information.
- You can request information about whatever limited data we have by emailing support@mountainswitch.co.
Data security
We rely on Cloudflare's infrastructure security for the site and API. We don't store personal account information because we don't have accounts. No system is perfectly secure. Report suspected issues to support@mountainswitch.co.
Changes
We'll update this page when we add features or services that change what we collect. Material changes will be dated at the top.
