Terms of Service
Last updated: April 14, 2026
The short version
MountainSwitch is a free informational service. Use it to plan mountain trips, but don't treat it as a substitute for road signs or what a traffic officer tells you, and don't skip checking the weather. Don't abuse the API. If something goes wrong on the road, MountainSwitch isn't responsible. Details below.
Who we are
MountainSwitch is operated by Ezlogy Inc., a California corporation. "We," "us," and "our" refer to Ezlogy Inc. Contact: support@mountainswitch.co.
What the service is
MountainSwitch is a website and public API that aggregates and republishes road condition data from official transportation agencies, starting with Caltrans. The data includes chain controls, closures, and advisories for mountain routes. The service is free.
This is informational, not authoritative
- Official DOT alerts, roadside signs, or agency websites
- Direction from law enforcement or traffic control personnel
- Current weather or avalanche reports
- Common sense
Road conditions change quickly. Our data can be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable. Always verify conditions independently before driving, and follow any on-the-ground instructions. You use MountainSwitch at your own risk.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Try to bypass or abuse API rate limits
- Republish or resell MountainSwitch data in a way that misrepresents it as official agency data
- Use the service in a way that would violate the underlying source agencies' terms
- Attempt to attack, probe, or degrade the service for other users
- Scrape the site to re-create the API. The API is public and free, use it
API terms
The API is free for reasonable use, subject to rate limits as documented in the API documentation. We reserve the right to throttle, block, or contact users who exceed reasonable use.
For commercial use, higher rate limits, or partnership arrangements, contact support@mountainswitch.co.
When republishing MountainSwitch data, please attribute the original source (for example: "Road condition data via Caltrans, aggregated by MountainSwitch."). Requested but not legally enforced.
Intellectual property
The MountainSwitch name, logo, site design, and software are the property of Ezlogy Inc. The underlying road condition data is the property of the respective transportation agencies and is republished under their applicable public data terms.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all warranties, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Ezlogy Inc. and its officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use MountainSwitch, including damages for loss of use, data, profits, or property damage or personal injury related to road travel, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Ezlogy Inc. against any claim, loss, or expense arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be dated at the top. Continued use of MountainSwitch after a change means you accept the updated terms.
