Coverage details

Covers reported SR-140 conditions from Mariposa through Midpines and El Portal to the Yosemite park boundary — some nearby roads aren't monitored. See what's included.

This status covers the known SR-140 approach serving Mariposa, Midpines, and El Portal to the Caltrans state-route endpoint at the Yosemite park boundary. It answers the California state-highway access question for the Mariposa / El Portal Yosemite west gateway.

It doesn't include National Park Service-managed El Portal Road or other in-park roads beyond the boundary; SR-120 west through Groveland; SR-49 beyond its SR-140 junctions; or local and county roads. SR-120 west and SR-49 are context only and never part of this destination verdict. Verify in-park road status with the National Park Service and excluded state highways separately.

Conditions can change quickly in the mountains. This page never replaces chain requirements, closures, or official Caltrans guidance. This boundary supports no claim about National Park Service-managed El Portal Road, other in-park roads, SR-120 west, SR-49 beyond its SR-140 junctions, local or county roads, reopening timing, or any road outside the reviewed SR-140 approach. Neither surface makes a safe-to-drive or all-clear claim.
