Coverage details
Covers three modeled approach gates into the Lake Tahoe basin — some nearby roads aren't monitored. See what's included.
This region status covers three modeled gates into the Tahoe basin: I-80 from Colfax across Donner Summit to the Truckee junction, US-50 from the Sacramento / El Dorado county line over Echo Summit to the California–Nevada state line, and SR-88 from the San Joaquin / Amador county line through Carson Pass to Picketts Junction followed by SR-89 through Luther Pass to Meyers.
These gates do not establish in-basin circulation coverage. West-shore SR-89 through Emerald Bay, NV-28 / Mount Rose, NV-207, US-50 east of Stateline, and roads between basin communities are outside the region verdict. Use the linked member destination pages for their separately modeled approaches.
Conditions can change quickly in the mountains. This page never replaces chain requirements, closures, or official Caltrans guidance. This boundary supports no claim about in-basin circulation or any road outside the three modeled basin approach gates. Neither surface makes a safe-to-drive or all-clear claim.
